As a premium manufacturer, Volvo has always seemed like an outsider to me when compared to the other premium car marques. In all honesty, I have never fully accepted Volvo’s cars as up market offerings and alternatives to their German, British and even Japanese counterparts. Perhaps its the company’s history under Ford ownership or more recently its deep Chinese pockets. Maybe its the fact that they only offer four cylinder engines in their line up. I’m not entirely sure. But be that as it may, their Swedish charm has slowly been working my heart and there is an ember of hope and fondness as I consider Volvo’s cars.
More recently Volvo launched a new video about the XC60’s safety systems. What makes the video very unique is that its not a celebration of how safe the car is but rather a celebration of life and what it could be. The video features a Volvo XC60 with its autonomous emergency braking system which is deployed whenever the car detects an imminent collision, or in this case, an unwary pedestrian.
