Porsche South Africa yesterday announced the launch of the 911 GTS models based on the 991.2 update. Five new cars will be introduced based on the different body styles and number of driven wheels: The Carrera GTS rear wheel drive, Carrera 4 GTS with all wheel drive, both in either coupé or cabriolet body formats and the Targa 4 GTS. As a hallmark of the GTS range all cars come with the wider Carrera 4 body shell.
All models will feature the new turbo charged 3.0 liter flat six engine installed in the rest of the 991.2 911 range. However, the engine in the new GTS comes with a new turbo charger, different from the one in use in the standard models. Power is up by 15kw from the standard models and up by 22kw when compared to the first generation 991 GTS models. A healthy dose of torque is available in the mid range: 550Nm of torque between 2150 and 5000rpm. As standard all cars come equipped with Porsche’s seven speed manual gear box which can be upgraded to the optional PDK(Porsche’s dual clutch transmission).
All cars come with PASM(Porsche Acive Suspension Management)suspension. The coupés feature PASM chassis also which lowers the ride height by 10mm.
The top speed of the new range of GTS cars is in excess of 300kph with the Carrera GTS coupé topping out at 312 kph. As is to be expected the Carrera 4 GTS has the fasted 0-100kph time of 3.6s.
